Tiptoe Dance

Tiptoe Classical Dance is a classically based programme for children aged 2 to 5. We offer young children the teaching, the space and the opportunity to learn sound dance fundamentals in a happy, inspired, fun environment.

The fundamental foundations of classical dance are simple and appropriate for young children to learn, explore and play with. It’s these foundations that Tiptoe is built on. Everything from the way our teachers are trained, to our uniforms, to the way our programmes are designed is fresh, real and a little bit different.

About Us

  • We are based in Coorparoo, Brisbane.
  • Tiptoe teachers are patient and kind. There are always two per class. This is one of the key reasons students respond so well to our classes.
  • All our teachers are classically trained, have been/are professional dancers themselves, have Bluecards and experience in teaching this age group.
  • We encourage boys and our school colours, uniforms and programs have been designed with this in mind.
  • We offer a variety of classes each week:
    1. Tiptoe Ducklings (2 to 3 yrs)
    2. Tiptoe Tulips (3 to 4 yrs)
    3. Tiptoe Teddies (4 to 5 yrs)
  • Most classes are 45 minutes long, except for Ducklings which is 30 minutes.
  • Children are required to wear the school uniform to all classes.
  • We ask you to trust us. To enable your child to focus and participate fully in the class without distractions, parents are asked to trust us with their child and enjoy a coffee from down the road while you wait. You will be proudly invited by your child to watch the last lesson of each term and be amazed at what they have achieved.
  • Your child is welcome to attend a trial lesson before committing to a place.
  • Classes are paid in term blocks and are refundable for medical reasons only.
  • We do not do end of year concerts for this age group
  • We love what we do!

The Tiptoe Advantage

Introduce your child to the world of dance through our Tiptoe dance programme, they will thank you for it! The lessons they will learn and the concepts they will be introduced to will provide them with many very useful skills, not only for future dance classes, but any class setting.

Outside of the more obvious physical benefits, your child will grow in confidence, self-esteem and social wellbeing. Music plays a vital role in any child’s dance education and we find exposing our students to as many different styles of music during these important growth years incredibly beneficial. We purposely explore many different sounds highlighting the reaction and type of movement that the style evokes.

We are constantly working to improve our communication and programs to ensure that your child, at their specific age, is getting the best possible dance education for their developmental stage.

All Tiptoe classes have two dedicated and professional teachers. They all have strong dance backgrounds and are either parents themselves or have the relevant level of experience to effectively nurture, inspire and teach your child.

OUR beliefs regarding Parental Viewing18892919_822892504532665_5793814569795907985_n

It is very difficult for a 2, 3, 4 or 5 year old to begin to be their own person when they are accompanied into class by their Mum and often siblings…

For a young child to focus and participate fully in the class without distraction, they need a calm, organised space with an obvious person of authority. Trust that he/she will adapt and manage to throw focus to their teachers sooner if you are not present. You won’t be far away if you are needed and it gives them a rare opportunity to try out being a big kid in a safe, secure learning environment.

I ask you to trust us with your child. Remember it is only 45 minutes! Pop down the road and enjoy a coffee while you wait. Your child will be so proud to invite you to watch the last lesson of each term and you will be amazed at what they have achieved!

Age Groups and Siblings

Some parents may prefer to have two siblings of different ages accompany each other in the same class. Tiptoe supports this providing they attend the class for the younger of the two.

Joseph loves Tiptoe. Our quiet and placid boy now bursts into song, hops, jumps and dances. We are thrilled with Tiptoe’s professional and obviously effective approach. Highly recommend it!

Sally Muntz (Miss Sally)IMG_0503

Sally has always had a passion for dance and a love of teaching children. After graduating from The Queensland Dance School of Excellence with a Diploma of Dance she moved to Sydney to train at ED5 International in their Full-Time Course.  This gave her the opportunity to work with Choreographers such as William Forsythe, Keith Hawley, Ross Coleman, Leslie Bell, Kelley Abbey, Gerry Symonds and Christine Denny.  Once completing her Certificate IV in Performing Arts, she started working as a professional dancer performing at the 2006 MTV Music Video Awards with artists such as Ashlee Simpson, Snoop Dogg, The Darkness and The Rogue Traders.  She also performed at the 2006 Mardi Gras and in video clips with Guy Sebastian and Shannon Noll.

From there, life took Sally to the USA where she was a professional
dancer on the Carnival Cruise Line Ship the MS Paradise.

Once back in Australia she spent 4 years performing in the Wildlife Warrior Shows at Australia Zoo, where she got hands on experience with many animals while learning valuable performance lessons from Paul Guerin, Michael Balk, Natasha Zuvela and The Irwin Family.

Through all of this Sally’s love of teaching Dance to children has always shone through and has seen her teach at many dance schools around Brisbane.  Her passion and guidance has inspired many of her students to become professional dancers, and Sally hopes that she can keep encouraging children to follow their dreams for many years to come.
