Wiggles World of Dance

(12 months to 5 years)

Created by The Wiggles and Wanoli Entertainment, this vibrant dance program is energetic and fun. It allows young people to explore their own bodies capabilities and strength in a safe environment.
The program focuses on the fundamentals of dance in a fun and wiggly way.

Our Wiggly dancers will explore the fundamentals of dance technique in a fun, creative and imaginative way allowing them to gain an understanding of dance & music prior to moving into mainstream dance classes.

In 2025 Brisbane Dance Theatre will be offering Wiggles World of Dance classes to children 12 months to 5 years of age, Tuesday through to Saturday.

Pointe

(11+ Years - Level Three Ballet & up)

Our students start performing Pointe work in their Level Three exams.

We begin Pre-Pointe lessons in Level Two B, giving them the foundations to progress onto Pointe safely. It is so important to us that we develop the correct strength and flexibility in our students to ensure they have a long and successful career on Pointe without injury.

Lyrical/Contemporary Dance

(7 years and up)

Contemporary Dance is an expressive dance form combining elements of classical ballet, modern dance and stretching techniques. We have classes for children, starting from 7 years of age.

Jazz

(3 years and up)

Jazz classes are high energy and lots of fun. Your child will learn various Jazz techniques and styles while dancing routines to popular music. Our Jazz classes are split into classes for all ages, so please see our timetable for class times.

Hip Hop

(7 years and up)

Hip hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the choreography.

Tap Classes

(3 years and up)

Tap dancing is a fun style that anyone can learn. Students build skills in rhythm, musicality, balance and co-ordination. By using a variety of music styles and tempos, students are encouraged to “train” their ears to hear different beats and rhythms.
It is so much fun to make music with your feet!

Acrobatics

(3 years and up)

Brisbane Dance Theatre follows the Acrobatic Arts Syllabus. The program is based on safe and effective progressions with proven results in 5 divisions of AcroDance: Flexibility, Strength, Balancing, Limbering and Tumbling.

Developed with input from professionals and experts in Ballet, Modern Dance, Jazz, Contortion, Artistic Gymnastics, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Sports Acrobatics, Yoga, Acro Yoga, Pilates, Physiotherapy, Hand Balancing and more, you will not find a more comprehensive program.

Simple, thoughtful progressions take the beginner preschool level dancer from log rolls and somersaults to the advanced dancer tumbling effortlessly across the stage!

Musical Theatre

(5 years and up)

Back by popular demand, 2025 sees Musical Theatre classes return to the BDT timetable.

Learn the art of acting and singing, and develop your performance skills. In Musical Theatre classes, students will study famous musicals, learn songs and choreography from stage shows and develop their stage craft and performance skills.

Private Coaching

All of our Brisbane Dance Theatre teachers are available for private coaching in 2025. Our brand new studio will open up more time slots for private lessons than ever before.
These lessons can be used to improve our students technique, prepare for exams or work on eisteddfod solos. Students can book in for a 15, 30, 45 or 60 minute private lesson. We suggest that to get the most out of these lessons, private lessons should be attended either on a weekly or fortnightly basis.

Please note that our regular dance classes take precedent over private lessons and can only be scheduled in the available time slots in our 2025 timetable. Please visit our website to view our 2025 timetable. Private lessons can be attended during school hours.

Uniform Requirements

Ballet students must wear the studio uniform to their classes. We believe uniforms instil a sense of pride in oneself and makes students feel apart of a team environment. It is for these reasons all students must wear the BDT uniform to all classes.

Learning ballet is wonderful for children even if they never become dancers. It is wonderful because it teaches discipline, grace, and manners.
